So the other day, a friend of mine, Pat, and I met up with Manda, another friend of mine, in order to get fitted for running shoes. We went up to
Charm City Run where a nice man, Micheal, helped us out. He asked if we had any pain in our feet from our current shoes and then had us walk away from him, then back before running away and back. He told me that had some
pronation and that I needed something to extra support to prevent injury. Manda had normal pronation, so she could get regular shoes. Micheal brought out five pairs of shoes for each of us to try on.

We tried all of them on and ran around the store and on a treadmill to see which ones we were the most comfortable wearing. Sometimes this consisted of wearing two different ones, one on each foot. It was a lot of fun! Micheal also sized our feet so we could get the right fit. Apparently, when you run, your feet swell up, so your
running shoes should not fit snug like other shoes. It was like shoe shopping with my mom in elementary school - he checked them to make sure there was about a thumb length at the toe.
Eventually, Manda and I decided on which shoes to get. Pat already knew what he wanted, so he ended up just waiting and chatting. I ended up with the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 11 shoes. They were light and fit just right. I was happy! Manda ended up with Aesics.

I can't wait to try these bad boys out! I opted not to use them for the Hello Cupcake! 5k, just in case they need to be broken in, so I have to wait until I run at home. Unfortunately, due to my hip issues, I am might have to wait a week. LAME!!!
I love new running shoes that make my feet happy!! Have fun with yours, hopefully your hip feels better!!
ReplyDeleteAfter losing my shoes in the mud, I got new shoes on Saturday. I LOVE them. I have no pain when I run and I feel like I can bounce in them =)
ReplyDeleteAwesome idea for a blog, btw!
