Monthly
March was pretty daggum awesome. I am happy with the way it went, overall. On the weight front, I have decided that I always bounce around, but my bounce around area has dropped. I had been 207 sometimes, but tended to hang out more around 210-212. This month, I have seen 207 more often, but mostly been hanging out at 208-209. Still downward motion, so I am happy. Do I know why? Of course. I have not been the most efficient at tracking food and saying no to deliciousity when it popped up. Gonna work on that in April. But overall, tons of good things happened this month.
I completed my first 5k race and had a blast. I found out it is something I like doing! It was awesome being part of that! I did not finish last, which was my goal and I ended up with a plaque.
I managed to work in core and total body training three weeks. It may have led to my poor hammy getting a little damaged, but it got better. And man, I can totally feel the difference!
March 2011 Numbers:
Distance:
Bike: 13.33
Run: 17.81
Elliptical: 4.49
Walk: 3.45
Total: 39.08 miles
Calories: 5001
Time: 8hrs 46min
Injuries:
I overworked my right hamstring. It was pretty painful, but I learned that by babying it and taking a few days off, I can come back. I freaked out at first since I have a 5k next weekend, one in which I get a cupcake afterward, and I was not excited about missing that!
The other thing that I am working on is my left hip. I have always had issues with it. If I sit too long, it gets very stiff when I get up. My mom has bad hips and I know that when she was in her mid-twenties-ish, she took up a little jogging, but her hips stopped her. She is still a mega walker, she does 3-4 miles almost five days a week, rain or sleet or snow or heat or whatever. She does not go when my dad does not have to work, so usually weekends and holidays. Now, my hip has been bugging me a bit more since I have been running on it. I don't want to give it up, so I have been consciously sitting so that it is in a natural position. I like to fold my left leg under me, but that makes it stiffen a lot faster. I am trying to keep it straight. We'll see how that goes.

I had two yesterday! Hooray!
1. When I stretched out after my run, I noticed a significant increase in flexibility in my hamstrings and quads! I had to increase the pull on my quads to get the full stretch feeling and when I sat on the ground with legs apart, I could get my head to my knee! So excited!
2. FINALLY broke out of the 13 minute range for more than a mile when run outside. Granted my pace was 12:57, but that is almost 10 seconds down! Woo hoo!
Sarah, you had an awesome month! Lots for you to be proud of, including that awesome new pace!!
